To improve the economic base of the veterinary profession, ensuring that the delivery
of veterinary care and service meets the needs of society.
About Us
The National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues (NCVEI) is a non-profit organization
formed in 2000 by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal
Hospital Association and the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges
in order to ensure the economic future of veterinary medicine.
The NCVEI is a not-for-profit organization governed by a twelve member Board of
Directors with four members from each of the three founding organizations.
Day to day leadership of the NCVEI is provided by its CEO, Dr. Karen E. Felsted,
CPA, MS, CVPM. (See Meet the Team for more information about Dr. Felsted
and the Board of Directors.)
Funding is primarily provided by the founding organizations and members of the NCVEI’s
Sponsor Council. Current members of the Sponsors Council include Merial, Hill’s
Pet Nutrition, Veterinary Pet Insurance, Fort Dodge Animal Health, Bayer Animal
Health, CareCredit, Simmons Educational Fund and the Western Veterinary Conference.
