Overview
The following information reflects the NCVEI’s commitment to maintain our Web site
visitors' rights to privacy and the confidentiality of personal information. The
NCVEI takes extensive measures to ensure the safety and security of its Web site
servers and the information contained on them and to guard against divulging private
information.
Information Collection
The National Commission on Veterinary Economic Issues is the sole owner of the information
collected on www.ncvei.org, www.ncvei.com, www.ncvei.nl, and www.examroom.org. NCVEI
collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site.
Registration
In order to use this Web site, a user must first complete a user profile (registration
form.) During registration a user is required to give contact information such as
name and postal address. The NCVEI Board of Directors has stipulated that membership
within one of these organizations by a member of the practice is required to gain
access to the tools. We use the AVMA and the AAHA membership database to verify
a user's membership within these organizations. This verification helps ensure the
legitimacy of those using the website. Veterinary students may access the site with
a SAVMA membership number.
Information Use
The NCVEI takes every reasonable precaution to protect the confidentiality of users'
personally identifiable information. The information will be used exclusively by
the NCVEI as data for its Pricing and Benchmarking tools. Systems have been put
in place to ensure that this information cannot be viewed individually by other
members or third parties, but only used as part of an aggregation of data from other
veterinary practices. No individual practitioner's data will be shared, rented,
sold, traded or otherwise made accessible to any other user, to any of the founding
associations or sponsors or to any other third party unless required by law. Aggregate
data about practice activities or trends may be used in seminars or publications.
No personally identifiable information will be used in such a manner.
Cookies
A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about
the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information
while on our site. We use session ID cookies. For the session ID cookie, once users
close the browser, the cookie simply expires.
Third Party Advertising
The association and corporate logos appearing on this Web site are delivered to
users by NCVEI founding organizations and corporate sponsors. Information about
users' visits to this site, such as number of times they have viewed the associations'
or sponsors' Web sites (but not user name, address, or other personal information),
is used solely as general information to those organizations, in aggregate form
only, and not tied to any personally identifiable information. The NCVEI does not
share, rent, or trade personally identifiable information with third parties including
the NCVEI founding organizations and sponsors for any purpose.
Log Files
Like most standard Web site servers, we use log files. This includes internet protocol
(IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages,
platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer
the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information
for aggregate use. IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable
information. We use a tracking utility called Control Center that uses log files
to analyze user movement.
Special Offers and Updates
Established members will occasionally receive information on products, services,
and updates to the website. Individuals may choose to opt out of any communications
from the NCVEI from the "User Profile" section of the Web site.
Service Announcements
On rare occasions it is necessary to send out a strictly service-related announcement.
For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance, we might
send users an email. Generally, users may not opt-out of these communications, though
they can deactivate their account.
Legal Disclaimer
Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personally
identifiable information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief
that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court
order or legal process served on our Web site.
Links
This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we, NCVEI, are
not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our
users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of
each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information. This
privacy statement applies solely to information collected by this Web site.
Enhancement of Marketing Profile
We may purchase third-party marketing and census data and add it to our existing
user database to better display and analyze data submitted by each user. We may
use this information to enhance or overlay the profile of individual users. This
aggregate marketing data is therefore tied to the users' personally identifiable
information.
Correcting/Updating/Deleting/Deactivating Personal Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code, phone,
email or postal address), or if a user no longer desires our service, we provide
a way to correct, update or delete/deactivate users' personally identifiable information.
This can be done by logging into the NCVEI Web site and clicking on the User Profile
link or by emailing our Customer Support at info@NCVEI.org.
Notification of Changes
Changes to the NCVEI’s privacy policy, will be posted to this privacy statement,
the homepage, and other places deemed appropriate. In some cases when we post a
notice, we will also email users, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices
